Now Playing
Emy Louie
My life is a motion picture,
But not one of those box office hits,
Not one to leave people at the edge of their seats.
Perhaps more like a movie
Watched at home with good friends
Passing around a bowl of buttery popcorn and sweets.
I see myself pressing the pause button,
Instantly suspended in life,
Taking in the time as it is.
The world will lay silent for a moment or two
And for a second, just for a second,
Everyone’s heavy hearts and busy minds
Will lie silent too.
But wait, the triangular play button is tapped once more
And I am thrown back onto the scene,
Destined to tumble along-
Through good times,
Through bad.
I’ll be happy.
I’ll be sad.
And before I know it,
Like the fast forward button had been pressed
Somewhere on the way,
My time is almost up.
The credits will play,
Thanking the people who added color to my life.
The production would have been black and white without them.
Hoping the audience enjoyed the movie I was in
I have one last line for them
And that would be “Fin.”
