Eating Poems
Melissa G. Kim
When you are a child,
to eat a poem
may be like eating a lime,
or anything you dislike.
And then you changed.
You grew in knowledge
and spirit.
The poem appealed sweeter
than last
eaten.
So, when you are old,
(Your friends are too),
you share your
poem with them.
And suddenly,
without warning,
it becomes the most
scrumptious treat
the crowd has eaten in all their years.
So don’t be afraid.
Pick it up and dig in – don’t hesitate.
For there is much more to consume.
