Winter Vignettes

Vaishnavi Kashyap

Wandering winds lightly pull lingering leaves to the ground.
Magical snowflakes softly fall, not even making a sound.
A dying branch silently wails as it starts to fall.
All creatures now know that winter has come to call.

Storm clouds hang ominously, drifting through the air.
Raindrops sparkle beautifully as they land in my hair.
The footsteps of autumn are washed away by this rain.
Winter, O Winter, you have arrived again.

High, towering mountains boast snow-covered tops.
Heavy, raging snowfall never does stop.
Fierce fog sets in, swallowing all in its way.
This is a sign that winter has come to stay.

As lightning starts to attack, and thunder rolls in,
Storm clouds pour out their souls, and the fog begins to thin.
Rain, snow, sleet, and hail have all shattered the peace.
Winter’s influence on the world never will cease.
