The Forest of Hands and Teeth
by Carrie Ryan
Mary has been living behind borders her entire life, wondering what is beyond the chain link fences. Waiting for her, and everyone else in her village, are the Unconsecrated, a horde of undead, walking zombies waiting to devour anyone who crosses over. Mary still wonders about the ocean her mother always talked about, and would give anything to see it. The village is kept in order by the Sisterhood, a secret sect of women creating rules and regulations to keep everyone safe. When the fences are breached and the Unconsecrated are closing in on Mary, her family and friends, these rules and regulations mean nothing. Mary, her brother and a few friends are the only survivors and must now maneuver their way through a series of fenced in paths, hoping to find a way out of the Forest of Hands and Teeth. Is there a way out, or will the dead ends persist? What will she do when one of her friends has been bitten, and is slowly turning? What if they really are the last survivors on earth, destined to be devoured?
