Computers & Printing at Santa Clara County Library
Santa Clara County Library has 260 Full Service Computers for your use. All computers include:
- Internet access with Internet Explorer browser
- Access to the Library's website, catalog, and online resources
- Microsoft Word
- Microsoft Excel
- Microsoft PowerPoint
- Acrobat Reader
- Live Homework Help and Skill Building through Brainfuse
- Ability to play DVDs and CDs (Bring your own headphones)
- Privacy Screens
Full Service Computers require log in using your Santa Clara County Library Card number and PIN. Visitors may obtain a temporary one-day guest pass at the Circulation/Accounts Desk and asking for assistance.
Children’s computers are available for ages fourteen and under. Computers in the Children's Area have a commercially produced filter which attempts to block sites that might be considered objectionable. The filter is available as an option on computers in the adult area. Library staff does not monitor the selection of a computer.
Patrons with Disabilities:
Libraries have "Access for All" ADA computers for the visually and hearing impaired. These special stations include access to ZoomText 9.1, which offers screen magnification and screen reading.
Catalog e-resources Computers:
In addition, Santa Clara Library has Catalog e-resources Computers which offer access to online databases and Live Homework Help and Skill Building through Brainfuse. The Catalog e-Resources Computers do not have access to the Internet or to the Microsoft Office Suite applications. Log in is not required unless you wish to print.
Other Features for Full Service Computers:
- The Eastern Language pack is installed on all public stations. Available languages are Korean, Chinese (Taiwan), Chinese (PRC), and Chinese (Hong Kong S.A.R.). The language pack is accessed by clicking the toolbar at the top of the window and selecting a language for typing.
- Resize text in Internet Explorer: Go to “View -> Text Size”
- Page Setup for printing in Internet Explorer: Go to “File -> Print Preview” to change paper size, orientation, or margins, and add headers or footers. Specific instructions.
- Open and view email attachments
- Save to USB drives (Bring your own USB device).
Reserving a Full Service Computer:
Computers are available on a first come, first served basis. You may proceed to any available full service computer, log-in using your library card and PIN, and begin your session. If all computers are in use, sign-up for the waiting list at the wait list computer. Each library has varying time limits.
Printing:
You may print up to ten complimentary pages per day. Additional pages are $0.10 each.
