Doing Business with the Library
Collection Related Procurement
The library purchases books, CD’s, video’s, subscription services and other collection-related materials for the interest, information, and enlightenment of all people of the community the library serves. Much of the materials purchased are done so using multi-year contract agreements created after going through a formal solicitation process. This allows the library collection ordering staff to purchase most of the collection in a productive, time saving manner.
Specialized or foreign language items that are not available through the contracted providers are sourced in a variety of ways. Local, foreign and internet providers are used to procure the remaining targeted collection items.
MRO Purchasing & Contracting Opportunities at the Library
In addition to the collection-related Library materials for public use the Santa Clara County Library purchases a wide range of goods and services each year to keep library operations running smoothly. Maintenance, Repair and Operations (MRO) procurement includes:
- Office supplies and equipment
- Janitorial supplies and services
- Printing services
- Computers and Peripherals
- Furniture & carpeting
- Miscellaneous professional consulting services
In accordance with our Procurement Policy, we strive to provide for the fair and equitable treatment of all persons involved in the purchasing process, to obtain the highest possible value in exchange for public funds, and to safeguard the quality and integrity of the purchasing system.
