Our professional and friendly team of librarians is always ready to answer your questions, help you get started with research, find an elusive fact, and recommend a great book. Reference services are free and for all ages.

In person:
Receive friendly, personal help at your community library. Reference staff are located at desks in the children's and adult areas of the library during open hours. |

Reference By Appointment:
Request a meeting with our reference staff and we will schedule an appointment to help you with your detailed question and show you how to use the library's resources. |
Instant Messaging (IM) Reference:
Use the IM box and chat with a Librarian. In the event your question does not get picked up right away it means we’re busy helping someone in person, on the phone, or in another chat session.
You can also use your favorite instant messaging service to connect live to a Santa Clara County Library librarian. Just add our screen name to your contact list to start chatting.

Does the Library offer tutoring or homework help?
Yes. Tutors are available via Online Homework Help seven days a week from 1 p.m. to 10 p.m. (You will need a Library card and PIN.). Tutors will provide live tutoring, homework help and skill building for students in grades 3 through Adult Learners. This service is provided through a contract with Brainfuse.

Contact Circulation Services at 1-800-286-1991 (Monday thru Friday 8:30am-5:00pm) or email circulation@sccl.org.
You may also call Telecirc at 1-800-471-0991 for automated phone renewals and account information within the Greater Bay Area.
- Dial (800) 471-0991 on a touch tone phone.
- Choose Renewals option (# 5)
- Enter your library card number (which must start with 233... )
- Enter your PIN
- Select one of the following ways to renew your items.
- Renew one item (requires entry of item barcode number)
- Renew all current items
- List all items out
- You will be given title and new due date or told if an item cannot be renewed.
