Santa Clara County Library Exhibit Policy
Los Altos Library
As a responsibility of service, the Santa Clara County Library
encourages exhibits of interest, information and enlightenment for
all the people of the community. Exhibits presenting controversial
issues (i.e. political, religious and social) must present opposing
views. In no case will exhibits be excluded because of the race
or nationality or the social, political or religious views of the
exhibitors.
This exhibit policy agrees with the concepts of the Library
Bill of Rights as adopted and amended by the American Library
Association and approved by the Santa Clara County Board of Supervisors
February 5, 1991.
Information for Exhibitors
The Los Altos Library has three exhibit areas: the Art Wall, an
octagonal case, and two wall cases in the lobby.
Bookings
Exhibits in the octagonal case and wall cases are normally scheduled
for a one-month period of time. Bookings may be made no further
than one year in advance. Art works exhibited on the Art Wall are
juried by the Library Arts Committee once a year and are chosen
for an exhibit during the coming year. The library reserves the
right to reschedule exhibits. If there are numerous requests for
exhibit space, new exhibitors will take precedence.
At the time of booking, the exibitors may be requested to bring
in a sample of the articles to be displayed for approval by the
librarian and/or reviewing committee. Any materials to be distributed
to the public in conjunction with the display must also be approved
at this time.
Insurance
All exhibitors must complete a Santa Clara County Library Exhibit
Agreement before the exhibit is brought to the library.
Publicity:
If publicity is desired, the exhibitor may be asked to submit a
written article to the librarian two weeks prior to the exhibit

the Exhibit Agreement listing item values and exhibitor's telephone
